Halo Infinite developer betrayed more about the development of multiplayer
Halo Infinite becomes the first series part with computer opponents (bots) in multiplayer mode. A first impression of the Ki reschers could be made a few weeks ago in the Tech Preview and that was fundamentally pretty positive. marine bots was able to ask for developers 343 Industries some questions about the development of multiplayer bots and found out, among other things, that another famous shooter was reference for the bots.
The decision to introduce Bots in Halo Infinite, according to 343 industries, especially with the availability to start. The fact that the title is free2play and will be released at the same time on Xbox consoles, PCs and in the cloud, the studio calculates with many new but of course also long-established halo players. The bots should enable a loose entry that serve exercise and generally allow stressful rounds than in matchmaking that can be pretty frustrating at times.
Only campaigns, then human Ki
As 343 industries explained in the interview, the first bot prototypes were based on the KI of campaign opponents. But there was quickly found that there were many parameters that were difficult to represent with a semi-predictable Ki routine and one had to build another process accordingly. That's why completely new behavior patterns were built, where you were oriented to real players:
We used internal playtests, gameplay material and experience from previous halo games as a reference as the bots should move and behave. Bots should prepare you close to them against real players. Movements and decisions in combat are therefore to be human behavior so well Imitate it.
A big breakthrough was loud 343 the moment, where you have brought the bots to punish similar to human players, so to run laterally. Sufficient to do it yet. Especially the movements on the maps is one of the biggest problems that had to be resolved. In the Tech Preview this was to be observed, among other things, when the bots almost always took an identical path at the beginning of a match and thus allowed light shots. But it should be worked on this.

Fourth level of difficulty planned
Also to the differences of the individual levels of difficulty 343 Industries could reveal something. Three of them were already included in the Tech Preview, namely
- Navy
- Odst
- Spartan
According to 343, there are quite self-explanatory differences such as lower accuracy when shooting and less punishment movements in marine bots, but there are also more specific differences:
Marine bots can not read the Motion Tracker (mini radar, the opponent activity in the area indicated), so you do not have to be afraid that you hunt you. Odst and Spartan Bots can read the Motion Tracker, however, are better Weapons and grenades and also use equipment regularly.
But it is apparently not at three levels. For as the studio communicated to us, one plans to introduce a fourth degree of difficulty with the label recruit. This should be from the aggressiveness level still under that of the marine bots. So you have shown all player experience levels.
Prototype Perfect Dark
The bots of a particularly legendary shooter, namely Perfect Dark, were a reference point for the development of KI counterparties, according to 343 Industries. At the N64 shooter it was possible to set different personalities and thus also play styles for each individual. 343 Industries thought about a similar function in Halo Infinite at the beginning of the development, but then did not build them:
We did not have the capacities to implement this feature in a quality with which we would have been happy, and instead prioritized other features.
However, as 343 industries at the end of the interview again emphasized, but you also hear ambitions with regard to the bots and wool beyond the launch, which would like to have the community. Halo Infinite is a live service and therefore one has the great opportunity to respond to the feedback of the players' inside and make the title better over time.
Halo Infinite appears at the end of 2021 for the Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and the PC, a concrete release date does not exist yet.
